Hidden Hunger. This is an issue the High Plains Food Bank has seen tremendously increase over the past two years. In our own minds, we all can draw a mental picture of hunger (such as those who may be homeless). However, what about your neighbor, your friends or the person standing in the line next to you in the grocery store? Did you know that these people around you could be food insecure?...
7.2 million

In 2005 we sent out 5.7 million pounds of food from our warehouse; a record breaking year. That year Hurricane Katrina destroyed many cities along the coast of Louisiana. That spike in pounds distributed is no surprise, because Katrina is the biggest natural disaster in our history. It goes without saying that it would make sense to have the highest distribution in a year with a large natural disaster. HPFB sent truckloads of food and supplies to New Orleans that year. The community came out in full force and the employees of the Food Bank were working 14 hour days to keep up with the demand. The outpouring was fast and hefty! This was until now the record....
What a record....
