I am the Inventory Control Manager for the High Plains Food Bank, which means I handle the inventory that comes in and goes out through the Food Bank. I just wanted to give everyone a little insight on what is needed here at the Food Bank.
We are in need of all types of canned vegetables. It is hard for our partnering agencies to distribute groceries to their families and have them try to build a meal for their family without vegetables. We currently only have USDA canned corn and virtually no other vegetables. A variety of available inventory makes the client better equipped to provide a meal to their families.
It is my hope the community will come together and help those families in need to provide a balanced meal for their families. Just imagine a table set for dinner with no healthy vegetables on the table just a main entrée and maybe a side dish that really has little nutritional value for your kids. Unfortunately, that is an all too common experience for many people in our area.
We, have the power to change that! I pray that we can come together as a community and help Alleviate Hunger in the Texas Panhandle and really help out those in need.
