Kids Cafe is a program of Feeding America, offered by High Plains Food Bank to at-risk children in our service area in need of daily, healthy meals. Kids Cafe confronts childhood hunger and obesity by providing meals that follow USDA recommended nutritional guidelines. For many children in the Texas Panhandle, the meal provided through Kids Cafe is a daily nutritious dinner they may otherwise go without.
The Kids Cafe After-School Meal program is funded by a grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture (T.D.A.) Child and Adult Care Food Program (C.A.C.F.P.). Food program costs are funded by the grant. Program sites were chosen based on Texas Department of Agriculture eligibility requirements, which designate eligible areas as those served by schools in which 50% or more of the students are eligible for free or reduced-price meals.
Kids Cafe meals are prepared and delivered using today’s highest quality standards. Meals are provided to all children without charge and are the same for all children regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.
